La Source Garouste

THE CHALLENGE

Although access to cultural activities is a right according to UNESCO, many children and teenagers in France do not take part in artistic activities. These inequalities in access are even more pronounced among the most vulnerable populations, reinforcing existing difficulties (academic, social, family...). In 2024, 381,000 young people under the age of 21 were under the care of the child welfare system. according to Santé Publique France 2023, 13% of children aged 6 to 11 have at least one probable mental health problem.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The main aim of the project is to enable the creation of varied works of art, with BIC pens at the center. These can be used in a variety of ways: as the main material for designing the works, or as tools for drawing and bringing unique creations to life. Five La Source Garouste sites are taking part in the project, with six workshops planned between February and August 2025. Supervised by four artists, these workshops will explore various disciplines such as sculpture, automata, textiles, and frescoes, all directly linked to BIC products, used as materials or artistic tools. 

I had a great time at La Source. The artists taught me to appreciate art in all its forms. Thanks to the workshops, I was able to get out of my house and see other children my age. I felt very fulfilled. La Source was very beneficial for me. I learned a lot, especially how to get along with others and be a team player
