ACTIONAID HELLAS: FEED YOUR FUTURE ENGAGING IN
THE CHALLENGE
Despite growing climate awareness—evidenced by a nearly 50% increase in youth climate action in Europe between 2013 and 2023 (Eurydice, 2023)—young people remain significantly underrepresented in the formulation of sustainable food systems and climate policies. Meanwhile, the youth population in rural EU areas has halved, from 3.6 million in 2013 to 1.9 million in 2019 (European Commission), reflecting a disengagement from food systems. Traditional activism often fails to engage this generation, underscoring the need for creative, inclusive platforms that empower young people to drive sustainability and climate action.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The "Feed Your Future" project is a dynamic three-year international initiative designed to empower youth through creative activism, promoting sustainability, climate action, and transformative food systems. With partners from eight European countries—Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain, the Netherlands, Cyprus, Belgium, and Romania—the project employs public art performances, street actions, and interdisciplinary programs, such as the "School of Artivism," to actively engage young people in advocacy. In Greece, ActionAid Hellas will spearhead local activities, street art performances, and the "Art Feeds" Collective Residency, where young people design projects centered on sustainable food systems.

THE CHALLENGE
Raising awareness of the impact of climate change in the Global South, including climate-induced migration and engaging and activating young EU citizens in supporting policies and developing actions to combat climate change as a driver of irregular migration and forced displacement around the world.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The multi-year, multinational project that aspires to develop young EU citizens' awareness and critical understanding of climate change induced migration as one of the biggest challenges of the globalized world. Through this project, teenagers are first informed and educated about the effects of climate change and migration flows, and then given the ground to act.

THE CHALLENGE
While creative, participatory education has proven to foster confidence, collaboration, and active citizenship among young people, many students in Greece—particularly those living in remote, rural, island, and border communities—continue to have limited access to these learning opportunities. Geographic isolation, socio-economic inequalities, and fewer cultural and educational resources create significant barriers, leaving many children without the chance to develop their creativity and fully engage in their communities.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Student Action Week – Creative Pathways for Inclusive Youth Engagement is a nationwide, three-year educational initiative that expands access to creative, experiential learning for children and young people across Greece. Building on more than 20 years of ActionAid Hellas' Student Action Week, the project follows a progressive pathway of Expression, Creation, and Action, enabling students to strengthen their creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and self-expression through visual arts, storytelling, creative writing, and performance. Special attention is given to students and schools in remote and underserved regions, ensuring more equitable access to high-quality creative education while empowering young people to become active, engaged citizens within their communities.

By combining creativity, education, and active citizenship, we help students build the confidence and skills they need to become engaged members of their communities. Our goal is not only to inspire creative thinking in the classroom but also to empower the next generation to turn their ideas into meaningful action and contribute to a more inclusive and sustainable society.
