Sustainability: BIC’s Twin Lady/Silky Touch Razor Now Features an 87% Recycled Plastic Handle
Innovation designed to reduce the environmental impact without compromising ease of use and quality.
Shelton, Conn. – March 14, 2025 – BIC takes sustainability to the next level with an innovative upgrade to its iconic Twin Lady/Silky Touch razor, now featuring a handle made from 87% recycled plastic. This enhancement reflects BIC’s broader mission to integrate sustainable solutions and responsible manufacturing, helping to reduce plastic waste and lower environmental impact.
“At BIC, we believe in developing simple, inventive, and reliable products for our consumers around the world. We also believe in doing this responsibly—taking into account the planet, society, and future generations,” said Gary Horsfield, Group Supply Chain Officer and Category Leader Blade Excellence. “Our philosophy has always been to use only what’s needed, and this mindset drives our approach to both innovation and sustainability. With over 200 million Twin Lady/Silky Touch razors sold annually, this change helps reduce environmental impact and supports BIC’s commitment to sustainability.”
“Incorporating 87% recycled plastic into the Twin Lady handle truly reflects our commitment to making meaningful changes that benefit the planet, while ensuring we continue to deliver the high-quality products our customers know and love”, added Helen Sahi, BIC Global Head of Sustainability.
This transition demonstrates BIC’s continued leadership in sustainable innovation, and it is one of our latest examples of using recycled plastic in our products. In addition to raising the amount of recycled plastic in the handle from 0 to 87%, Twin Lady/Silky Touch proudly bears new colors: a more modern pastel palette that make this staple as attractive as it is functional.
Sustainability is deeply embedded in BIC’s values and integral to its daily operations. The company has always focused on using the minimum possible raw materials and ensuring nothing goes to waste. Historically, this approach has enabled BIC to offer products at an attractive price, and today, it allows the company to meet consumer demand for more sustainable solutions—while maintaining high-quality and value.
