THE CHALLENGE

In many public schools, particularly in rural, urban, and indigenous communities, both students and teachers face limited access to resources for learning computer science. The digital divide significantly hinders students' ability to develop critical skills, such as problem-solving, creativity, analytical thinking, and technological fluency, all of which are essential in today’s digital world. Moreover, many teachers lack formal training in computer science and effective teaching methodologies, making the introduction of programming concepts in their classrooms. With minimal support from education authorities, integrating these skills into everyday learning remains a challenge. As a result, students in underserved communities miss out on essential digital literacy and creative problem-solving opportunities, limiting their access to higher education and future careers in technology.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Cuantrix program transforms education in underserved communities across Mexico, bridging the digital divide through creativity and innovation, an initiative successfully implemented over the past years. Rather than focusing solely on students, Cuantrix empowers teachers with the skills, tools, and confidence to integrate programming and computational thinking into their classrooms, creating a sustainable ripple effect that impacts hundreds of students each year. Through interactive workshops, hands-on training, and digital resources, educators develop the ability to foster problem-solving, creativity, and digital literacy, equipping students with essential future skills. In collaboration with state education authorities, Cuantrix provides a minimum of eight hours of foundational training, followed by continuous support to ensure seamless classroom integration.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS

I have worked with the Cuantrix program, and it is a very beneficial program for secondary school students, as they develop their logical-mathematical skills and try to find new solutions to problems in their communities.

Arelí Velázquez, Cuantrix Teacher, State of Mexico

Cuantrix is a great project, a great idea that has allowed teenagers to develop digital skills. They can continue to use these skills in their future lives, in any field in which they work
