ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
NGO Name: Narada - Location: Romania
The Romanian education system is outdated and lacks adaptability to respond to challenges faced by specific populations. Additionally, creativity is not considered an essential part of the education process, and art is often overlooked in children's development. However, research shows that classroom aesthetics and arrangement influence concentration, productivity, and children’s well-being.
Creative education teaches children to think independently and use their imagination. Children need opportunities for creative play and thinking to foster mental growth. By providing new ways of thinking and problem-solving, children's uniqueness is celebrated, which also helps teachers better understand each child’s needs, working style, and thinking process.
The project aims to develop creative skills among children, encourage freedom of expression through art, and stimulate their curiosity for studying and excitement about being part of an environment they contributed to. Over the next 3 years, Narada will work with 6 schools, conducting rehabilitation activities and fostering children’s development and creativity by organizing a 4-day Graffiti Art Summer Camp in each school.
Activities will include painting the classroom and hallway walls, as well as outdoor school areas, benches, and fences with graffiti. Children will learn concepts such as geometry from professional graffiti artists and receive guidance to identify elements that best represent their school and themselves. The freedom of expression is central, and this project offers an unforgettable experience for children who have never had the chance to attend a summer camp. It encourages them to work together and have the courage to dream big and implement their ideas.
I enjoyed this activity because I could paint whatever I wanted, but I couldn't decide in the beginning what I wanted. It was very nice to work in a team and a bit hard, but in the end, we agreed on something in common. I am excited about the camp, and I hope what I painted today will stay in school forever.
